| The operation of brine system is simple in principle .solid salt is dissolved with softened water to from a concentrated brine solution(30%) . This brine is further diluter with softened water to a concentration of 2.5_3% for feed to the cell. Electrolysis takes places in the cell by the following equation :
NaCl + 2H2O ¡ú NaOCl + H2 ¡ü
The final product contains 0.8( +_0.1%)sodium hypochlorite .The brine is also used to regenerate the water softening equipment.
The brine system employs bipolar patendted electrolyzer with clear cell body.it is not necessary to use water cooling during operation. Brine flows through the cells in a serpentine series allowing hypochlorite concentration to increase in strength while hydrogen is venteg after each cell pass to the atmosphere to eliminate electrode blanketing effects. The individual electrode packs are connected in a electrical series.
